An historic landmark that has been transformed into a modern business enterprise facility and heritage hub.
Thanks to the generous funding of £2.3 million awarded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2019 to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in partnership with South West College, this magnificent Victorian stone building has been sympathetically restored, preserving its important historic features and breathing new life into its walls.
Our restoration project made possible by National Lottery players and match funding contributions from Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and South West College, has created a unique space where history and innovation converge. The Workhouse Enniskillen is the only Workhouse in Northern Ireland that tells the story of its inmates and the famine period and pays homage to the lives of those who lived and died within its walls until its closure in 1948.
Within our dedicated heritage space, you will find compelling stories of the people who once resided in the Workhouse. Through a captivating mixed-use exhibition, reminiscence area, display space, and a dedicated heritage trail, these former residents now have a voice to share their experiences with visitors.
In addition to preserving our rich history, The Workhouse Enniskillen is also looking towards a positive and sustainable future. We have transformed part of the building into a modern business innovation and enterprise hub. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in collaboration with South West College, have created a supportive environment for local start-ups, budding entrepreneurs, and high-growth companies.
Our business hub features co-working desks, private offices, event spaces, and meeting rooms, all available for hire on a part-time or full-time basis. We strive to meet the needs of aspiring entrepreneurs, providing them with the resources, facilities, and mentoring required to turn their ideas into successful ventures.
